Quality Scanner 3D

With the Quality Scanner 3D you automate the monitoring of your glass quality at the highest level. The extremely effective quality control system with up to three different camera/illumination arrangements (brightfield, darkfield and reflection channel) is integrated directly after the washing machine in order to rule out pseudo errors. Each individual channel is focusing on specific types of defects, which are optically detected differently. The data comparison of the three channels enables a level of accuracy in defect classification that cannot be achieved with single-channel systems.

The channels used

The essential criterion for defect detection is the contrast of the defect. If there is no contrast in the defect in a specific measurement setup, aspects such as resolution or depth of focus no longer play a role. The contrast can then only be created by a specific camera/illumination arrangement (channels). The brightfield channel, which is considered the standard case, covers all high-contrast defects (inclusions, bubbles, scratches, etc.), the darkfield channel covers all weak-contrast defects (roller marks, hairline scratches, etc.) and the reflection channel covers all coating defects, even in bright LowE (coating scratches, pinholes , Etc.). Since the Quality Scanner has a modular structure, you only need to use the channels that cover your problem areas. The other channels can be retrofitted in the future.

How do the 3 inspection channels work?

The testing processes

The Quality Scanner 3D reliably detects all types of glass defects in monolithic panes. Even with fire protection glass, acid etched or sandblasted glass, mirrors and facade or (partial) silk screen printing panels. Viprotron's Quality Scanner 3D misses nothing when you want it to. The freely definable quality parameters also enable individual adaptation to your own quality standards or those of your customers. Valuable additional benefit: If required, you can provide your customers a proof of the production results of each individual pane thanks to the documentation and archiving of the test results. This is how process reliability works today!

Areas of application

  • Before and/or after sputter coating
  • After fabricating before further processing (printing, tempering, etc.)
  • Before or in the lami clean room
  • Before inspection in IGU

Focus

  • High contrast defects (bubbles, inclusions, scratches, etc.)
  • Low-contrast defects (hairline scratches, roller or cork marks)
  • Coating defects also in bright LowE (coating scratches, pinholes)

Modularly expandable

  • Base is brightfield channel (according to standards, e.g. ASTM C1036 or EN 1279 I)
  • Expandable with darkfield channel
  • Expandable with reflection channel (direct reflection)
  • Expandable with darkfield channel in reflection (indirect reflection)

Options to

  • Improvement of the workflow (e.g. Defect Pointer, traffic lights, second operator station, etc.)
  • Support for automation (connection to lines, ERP or PPS systems)
  • Adaptation to special lines (control speed, oversized glasses, special glasses)
  • Storage and use of data (dashboard, reports, archive)

FAQ

Of course you should use all three channels right from the start in order to detect all relevant defects and thus achieve a product quality level that is above that of your competitors. At the same time, you are equipped with three channels for all future detection tasks. But we don't want to solve problems that you don't (yet) have. As long as the market demands nothing else than standard testing, the Quality Scanner 1D single-channel system with brightfield testing can be sufficient. If the market demands grow, you can have additional channels retrofitted later.

The theoretical nominal dimension is 300 mm x 300 mm. Physically, the minimum size depends on the glass transport. Strictly speaking, the diameter of the rolls and their distance. The glass must always be transported on three rollers at the same time in order not to tip over or fall off the line.

The Quality Scanner 2D can be equippeded for this task with a brightfield channel in transmission and a darkfield channel in reflection. Both mirrors and full and partial homogeneous prints can be tested with it. Please send us your request describing your problem.

Some sandblasted motifs are very delicate. The scanner could classify such small fields as residue or dirt. In this respect, sandblasted or partially etched glasses only make sense to test if the frosted surfaces have a size of at least 10 cm².
