The next glasstec is approaching – the perfect time for us to look back once again at the previous edition. From October 22 to 25, 2024, Düsseldorf once again became the international meeting place for the glass industry. Viprotron was also there, presenting solutions for automated quality control in glass processing.

Four intensive days at the trade fair were all about personal conversations, new contacts and international exchange. We were pleased to welcome many familiar faces and speak with visitors from around the world about current challenges, quality requirements and future developments in the glass industry.

The Temper Scanner 5D in the Spotlight

A special highlight at our booth was the Temper Scanner 5D. The system enables comprehensive quality inspection of thermally tempered glass directly at the furnace exit.

Depending on its configuration, the Temper Scanner detects and evaluates, among other things:

  • Glass deformation and optical distortion of all kinds, such as hammer, saddle and pocket distortions

  • Anisotropy

  • White haze and local haze

  • High-contrast surface defects

  • Coating defects

An important topic in many of our conversations was the precision and repeatability of measurement results. Especially in industrial glass production, it is essential to assess quality not only at isolated points, but consistently and reliably over time.

The Temper Scanner 5D provides a reliable basis for this. Measurement results remain comparable, deviations become visible at an early stage, and production processes can be evaluated and optimized more effectively. For glass processors, this means greater transparency, better process control and consistently high product quality.

Bow Sensor: Greater Transparency Directly in the Process

The Bow Sensor was also an important part of our presentation at glasstec 2024.

It measures the bow of a glass pane without contact and directly during the ongoing production process. This creates additional transparency exactly where it is needed – without unnecessarily interrupting the production flow.

For glass processors, this offers a decisive advantage: changes and deviations can be detected at an early stage, before they negatively affect subsequent process steps or the quality of the finished product.

The Bow Sensor therefore adds another important measurement parameter to automated quality control and helps companies better understand their processes and keep them stable over the long term.

This continuous process monitoring is becoming increasingly important, particularly in highly automated production environments. The focus is no longer solely on whether a product is ultimately “good” or “bad”, but also on the ability to identify developments during production and respond accordingly.

Valuable Insights from the Industry

For us, glasstec is much more than a platform for presenting our technologies. Direct exchange with customers, partners and industry experts is particularly valuable.

The conversations at the trade fair once again highlighted the issues currently shaping the glass industry: reliable and repeatable measurement results, transparent quality data, the most comprehensive automated inspection possible, and the intelligent use of this data to optimize production processes.

This exchange provides us with important insights for the further development of our systems and, at the same time, shows us what our customers expect from modern quality control today and in the future.

We would like to thank all visitors who took the time to speak with us in person. The many encounters, new contacts and exciting project opportunities made glasstec 2024 a special experience for our entire team.

Now our focus is turning to the next edition. We look forward to returning to Düsseldorf, seeing familiar faces again and presenting our latest developments.

See you at glasstec 2026!
