FGS announces Viprotron partnership at FIT Show

Flat Glass Solutions has been announced as the official UK distributor for Viprotron, the market leader in glass scanning technology, at the 2023 FIT Show.

Viprotron, which has nearly 20 years’ experience in high performance, automated and manual glass scanning systems, offers a range of solutions for glass processors that are designed to detect defects such as inclusions, scratches, bubbles, and dirt. Designed to be easily integrated into glass processing lines, Viprotron’s scanners enable glass processing manufacturers to vastly improve product quality, increase productivity and introduce valuable cost savings – including the ability to re-work damaged glass before it is rejected as well as preventing costly remedial work.

The scanners can also be used to provide automatic archiving of quality control procedures, providing additional reassurance of quality to customers as well as in-house quality evaluations. According to Flat Glass Solutions managing director, David Cahill, the fact that Viprotron scanners allow glass processors to automatically FGS announces Viprotron partnership at FIT Show identify damaged product before being dispatched – and remedy any issues with equipment on the production line quickly and efficiently – means that the equipment can pay for itself in a very short amount of time.

One of the biggest issues the industry has to contend with is when poor quality glass units slip through despatch quality checks and are installed on site. For a big installation, you could be looking at thousands of pounds of recovery costs to replace a product being rejected in situ because it is not up to standard.

“And with the increasing trend for oversized units, in high-end domestic and in commercial applications, you only need one unit to be scratched or have an unsightly inclusion and the cost to replace it will be significant,” he adds. “For glass processors, the ability to automatically identify damaged glass during production is therefore hugely beneficial – depending on the volume of your output and size of units, we can see a Viprotron scanner typically paying for itself in less than a year.”

Viprotron offers a range of high-tech, automated and manual scanning solutions to suit a variety of budgets. That includes the ECO Scanner and ECO Scanner Pro, that offers high quality glass defect detection for a minimal investment. Easily integrated into new or existing lines, it is designed to be installed after a washing machine, either vertically or horizontally, and for single or parallel production of glass. It features an intuitive user interface and meets ASTMC1036, EN 1279 or JIS R3209 for defect detection of architectural glass.

Viprotron’s Quality Scanner3D system introduces more advanced glass defect detection systems, designed for more demanding applications, while the top of the range Temper Scanner 5D provides a complete metrology system – with glass defect detection after the furnace exit – and the ability to identify rollerwave, edge kink, anisotropy, white haze, scratches, and coating defects.

I’m delighted to announce our partnership with Dave and Flat Glass Solutions at the FIT Show. We have spent nearly 20 years perfecting our comprehensive range of automatic glass defect detection solutions. For a relatively modest investment, they can ensure a significant uplift in glass production efficiencies, delivering a key advantage at a time when the UK industry is so keenly focused on both the cost and quality of glass units.
